To uncover the true spirit of Morocco, join us as we journey beyond the medina walls, revealing its lesser-known delights. A gateway to the real Morocco, our Best of Morocco trip uncovers this ancient African country through the eyes of locals for a truly immersive experience.
Beginning in the intoxicating city of Casablanca, we make our way along Morocco’s coastline and through the grand gate of Bab el-Mansour to Fez, Morocco’s oldest imperial city. Fez is the symbolic heart of Morocco, where you’ll visit the places locals go to relax and drink Moroccan tea in lantern-lit courtyards. Later, witness traditional belly dancing as you sample Morocco’s tagines and wine in a local riad.
Crafts & Local Life
See the Bhalil village where residents live in dwellings carved from the rock face. You’ll get a rare insight into their way of life by visiting local craftspeople at a traditional ceramic tile factory. Get to grips with Moroccan trading culture by learning about leather craft when visiting the round dye-pits and tanneries.
On your journey to the oasis town of Erfoud, you’ll pass medieval marketplaces and stunning natural scenery. Travel by Jeep towards the golden horizon to watch the sun set on the Saharan desert, donning a traditional Berber headdress to protect against the elements as the local tribespeople do.
Follow the caravan trail to Morocco’s Red City, Marrakech. This historic city straddles the old and the new, and you’ll get the best of both. Take a stroll around the Majorelle gardens and the tombs of the 17th Century Saadi family. Polish your haggling skills in Marrakech’s sprawling souks and take home a handcrafted souvenir.
After dark, a horse-drawn carriage will whisk you to the Jemaa el Fna square, where you can soak up its sights and sounds. The city’s evening buzz is a feast for the eyes and ears. Then, dine at a true Moroccan restaurant, with lively music and local entertainment.
Enjoy a day basking in the sunshine and exploring the pretty port town of Essaouira, where you’ll find out how the skilled natives use distinct ingredients to make cosmetics. Finally, return to Casablanca to marvel at the French-Moroccan architecture of the Hassan II mosque, before spending your evening watching the sun descend on the city’s romantic skyline.
